We all have those friends and family who just seem to have everything for themselves they would actually really need or want. They probably have a well-paying job, and are probably pretty apathetic to your gift-giving dilemma their most helpful hint being a shrug. You are going to have to really consider the personality of the person you're dealing with, and I mean of course you always have to, but this is serious business. This is why you need to be paying attention when someone tells you their favorite alcoholic beverage, author, or music!
Well there are a few fail-safe options you could likely get away with depending on the specifics of this person. One such option is mayhaps a photo album. You can always cheap out and buy a scrap book and then just stick a bunch of pictures and say that is that, but what the hell is the point of that? On http://www.smilebooks.com/ you can make a photo book for a solid price for the quality of the product you get. It has all those fancy glossy pages, and you can alter the photos in all sorts of ways, adding a frame or a comment perhaps.
Another idea is perhaps an excursion of sorts. Y'know a paid skydiving trip, or maybe something a little more tame like wine-tasting or things to that effect. Concert or play tickets always work out pretty well, some people just forget to keep up with going to concerts and all that shenanigans. Another good idea may be buying a few classes in something that they are interested in or something that is generally interesting.
A rather popular idea that seems to be floating around is donating to a charity in the person's name. I suppose that is a nice gesture and all but to be honest I think it sounds like a cop-out. Are you really making that much of an effort to think of the person if you're just going to in actuality not really give them anything except for having their name attached to what is really just a pleasant after-thought from you? We all know there is no such thing as someone who has 'everything', so think of something, because you know there is something. With a little bit of effort and a smidge of ingenuity you should be able to buy a gift for anyone you know.
