Bachna Ae Haseeno stars Ranbir Kapoor as Raj, a player who has flings with different women, then breaks their heart by leaving them. He met his first girlfriend on a train ride in Switzerland. Mahi (Minisha Lambha) is looking for her one true romantic hero. When she misses her train back to Zurich, Raj drives her there and has a "killer idea." He says the scooter lost gas, when it really didn't, in order to spend a night with her and take advantage of her. He reads her a poem that he wrote for her on a napkin, and they sing the song Ahista Ahista. Raj has her convinced that they're falling in love, but when Mahi meets up with her family in Zurich, she hears Raj talking to his friends about how Mahi fell for all his tricks. She confronts him, but he just walks away from her, leaving her at the train station with her family.
Next was Radhika (Bipasha Basu). When Raj moves into an apartment in Mumbai, he discovers that he has a "killer hot" neighbor. Eventually they decide to live together. Raj loves this. It means unlimited access to Radhika, without the commitment of marriage. His best friend Sacchin says that she will soon want to marry and start a family, but Raj insists that she's not that type of girl. When his job transfers him to Sydney, Australia, he tells Radhika that he understands that she will want to stay and work on her career. But she says that they will have to get married very fast and that will mean a little bit of compromise and sacrifice. Sachin tells him to tell Radhika that his mom is very cruel so she won't want to marry into his family, but when Raj comes home, he finds his mom talking to Radhika on the phone wishing them the very best on their wedding. Sachin then tells him that every woman wants to have children, so Raj tells Radhika that his "goods" were damaged and that he can't have children. But again, Radhika says his love for him can overcome anything, and that they can just adopt. This goes on and on, and on their wedding date, when Radhika shows up in her wedding dress ready to get married, she finds that Raj has stood her up and is on the flight to Sydney.
In Australia, Raj meets Gayatri, (Deepika Padukone) a taxi driver by night and a grocery store clerk by day who likes to do things her way. When Raj calls her to pick him up, he takes her to a beach so they can sit and talk. She tells him she doesn't see the need for a husband when she is perfectly happy with her life right now. She ends the discussion by telling him that the meter is running and he's up to fifty dollars. When they meet again in the grocery store, he invites her to his company's launch party of Halo 3. He is mesmerized by her beauty and when she catches him looking at her she asks him, "What?!?" They sing Khuda Jaane and Raj knows he is falling in love with her. He proposes and gets his heart broken when she tells him that she meant what she said when she told him she didn't believe in marriage. She leaves him and for the first time he knows what Mahi and Radhika felt like.
He decides to go back and earn the forgiveness of Mahi and Radhika now that he knows how much it hurt them. The moral of this movie is to treat others as you would like to be treated.
