Bible study: Revelation 12

Revelation Chapter 12 is one of the most misinterpreted chapters in Revelation due in part to ignorance in the pulpit. Knowledge has greatly increased in these last days, as prophesied by Daniel the prophet, and much of it has yet to catch up to many of today's clergy.

What's more, many incorrect interpretations have been published down through the years and are still being sold and read by many who take the author's word as actual fact, rather than search the scriptures. (Acts 17:11)

Contrary to popular belief, the woman in Revelation 12 is not the church.

"And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads."

"And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born."

"And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days."

Considering the fact that the woman is in labor and about to deliver, it's surprising that so many scholars believed her to be the church. The church is referred to as a virgin- the chaste bride of Christ.

The woman is obviously Israel.

Israel and the church are two different groups and each of them plays a different role in the end times. Many scholars treat them as one and the same or else they believe that Israel forfeited the promise when she rejected salvation through Jesus Christ. This is simply untrue.

The promises made to Israel were absolute. Romans, chapters 9,10 and 11, describe the unconditional covenant God made with Israel in great detail. She has been blinded until the times of the gentiles are fulfilled.

The thousand two hundred and threescore days add up to three and a half years (360 day Jewish calendar) which is exactly half the time of the great tribulation.

"And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found
