To say that Blake Griffin was the one bright spot in the 2009 NBA Draft would be entirely unfair on all the others that have made the step up to the NBA. It's entirely arguable that he is the brightest star of them all, and the one that looks set to have the best career ahead of him in basketball; there's just no telling what could happen in the future however, and there are sure to be a good few surprises in the draft.
It takes time to perfect your game in professional basketball; even the very best players take years to truly master their craft, and it'll therefore be a few years yet before we see these players show their true colours within the game. Different people reacted differently to joining the NBA; some who are expected to be big will buckle under the pressure, others however will flourish and thrive under it, and playing at this level will help them to really up their game.
Weak knees or not; DeJuan Blair is a player that should surely shine within the NBA, and was a risk well worth taking at 37th pick for the San Antonio Spurs. Blair is a player of undoubted ability, and if the Spurs can keep him injury-free then he really will become a most valued member of their squad.
James Harden and Ty Lawson are two more players that could be set to shine, and looking at all the names in the 2009 NBA Draft it is easy to pick out a whole handful of players that could fit in well within the league. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but there are a number of very promising players that have come through to the NBA this summer, and it really is an insult to the other players emerging to suggest that Blake Griffin was the one and only bright spot.
Blake Griffin is a basketball player that is likely to become a top name within the NBA. He's a very talented power forward, and will no doubt have a fantastic time with the Los Angeles Clippers. He was the absolute pick of the players in the 2009 NBA Draft, the one bright spot though? I don't think so. It may not have been the best crop of players in NBA history, there were still some quality players in there other than Blake Griffin however, and in the next few years we will see that as this year's NBA newbies look to establish themselves within the National Basketball Association.
Blake Griffin will be a big name in the NBA, he won't be alone though, and there will definitely be other 2009 NBA Draft players proving their worth within the NBA in the next few seasons.
