How losing weight can improve your life

Being overweight is a problem but the good thing is that it is a problem which you can actually do something about. Joining a weight-control group and losing weight can have the most powerful impact on your life. Losing weight can have a host of benefits and can tremendously improve your life. It is important to assess your current Body Mass Index status, which measures your weight per height, to see what your current weight situation is. If you are normal weight or under-weight then losing weight is obviously something that you should not be worrying about. Only if you are actually overweight will your life improve if you lose some pounds. As someone who used to be more than 5 stones overweight, I can personally vouch for the positive impact that losing weight has had on my life. I find that my life has improved in a variety of ways and these are the plusses that you too can expect:

You will feel more comfortable.

How simply wonderful it is to be able to walk around and find that your thighs no longer rub together anymore. How fantastic it is too to feel comfortable in good-fitting clothes too. When you are overweight it is a constant battle to find anything nice that fits you right. You end up wearing huge, unflattering, elasticated clothes and whatever you wear you end up with tyres of fat showing underneath. Moving around and living a normal life without the sheer weight burden of a few extra stones is sheer bliss. There is no more struggling up even the smallest flights of stairs. No longer do you feel sore and out of breath even after a short walk. Life can be hard enough without the logistical problems of being overweight before the day even begins.

Your body image will improve

Though some people argue that it is possible to be big and happy, I think most of us feel utterly miserable when we are too fat. For most of us, our confidence is affected by weight-gain. When we look in the mirror we see large double chins appearing. We avoid looking at photographs of ourselves because all we see is the evidence of our obesity. People make unflattering comments and this can affect the way we feel about ourselves. I can remember a very slim Italian shop assistant, when I was in Rome once, ushering me to the extra-large skirt size section and shaking her head from side to side vigorously and gesturing with her hands as if to say 'No, no, the skirt in your hands is way too small..' Now I don't have to put up with this prejudiced
