For years, vampires have been portrayed as monstrous, blood-thirsty immortals. In 2008, the movie Twilight was released and changed the way millions of people viewed vampires. The movie Twilight is based on the first book in Stephanie Meyer's book series, The Twilight Saga. The Twilight Saga was and still is one of the best sellers. Director of the movie Twilight, Catherine Hardwicke really makes this movie a success. Twilight lovers are crazy over the way Stephanie Meyer and Catherine Hardwicke work together to differ their vampires from the rest!
Director, Catherine Hardwicke casts young, hot British sensation Robert Pattinson as main star and vampire, Edward Cullen. How could you describe the vampires in Twilight in one word? How about, gorgeous! Beauty is a must. How many vampires have you dreamt of falling in love with, before Twilight I meant? Point Proven.
What comes to mind when the word vampire is mentioned? Run? Monster? Blood thirsty? Vegetarian? Wait, what! Vegetarian? That's right, in the movie Twilight, the main vampire family the Cullens are vegetarians! How is that? They drink blood, just not from humans. The Cullen family feeds off of animals. This makes them able to socialize themselves with humans.
I bet by now you wouldn't mind meeting a vampire.
You probably wouldn't mind being one if you got to have one of those cool super powers. In Twilight, certain vampires are born, or created I should say, with "gifts." Edward Cullen's gift is the ability to read minds, all except his lover Bella's. Edward's "sister" Alice Cullen, played by actress Ashley Greene can see the future! Amazing and so convenient.
Twilight's vampires are incredibly strong, and fast, really, really fast. They have the ability to catch, wrestle, and defeat an animal. They can even stop moving vehicles with their hands. Need I say more?
As if Twilight's vampires weren't sexy enough, when the sunlight touches their skin, they glimmer. Just like diamonds. So dreamy! Although most vampires die in the sunlight, these ones just get hotter!
Speaking of killing a vampire in the movie Twilight, good luck! You can't. It's impossible. Only another vampire can kill them. No stakes, no garlic, nothing can stop these guys.
I bet this one is new to you; their skin is as cold as ice.
Stephanie Meyer has created a whole new kind of vampire, she let her imagination run wild with the writing of The Twilight Saga. Could the way she portrays her vampires be one of the reasons she's sold millions of copies worldwide? Could it be why her series was so eagerly turned into a series of movies? Could it be why the movie is a worldwide phenomenon? Or is it just because of the amazing story of a teenage romance between a human and a vampire? Either way, millions, including myself love Twilight, and their vampires!
