Your eyes are empty and cold
I can taste anguish on your breath
You look as if you have just experienced death
I'm sorry you have been caught up in this big game
You question me accusingly
Piercing my soul into two
You whisper where were you?
Where were you
When I lay my cheek
On a lifeless body that could not speak
Where were you
When a mother felt the wrath of a bomb
And her child cried out for her mom
Where were you
When I lay amongst the debris
My family's blood drawn upon my knee
Please, I'm sorry you have been caught up in this cruel game
I look away
Unable to meet those eyes
Shutting myself from your silent cries
And those brave eyes begin to shine
And I notice you have just drawn your first tear
Flowing down and projecting your fear
I'm sorry that I was not there
To guide you when you felt alone
Huddled on the ground like a animal letting out a moan
I'm sorry on behalf of the world
In which your family's death is nothing more than a statistic
Really, its reality and I'm being realistic
But your answer tears me apart
Looking at me so sincere
And whispering you were not here...
