The "About Me" page of Helium is the place where your readers and other Helium members go to find out more information about the person that wrote an article. It is also the place where many outside sources look to see if you are professional about your work on Helium. The "About Me" page tells a lot about you and can make the difference between winning a marketplace spot or if a reader will continue to read your works.

The following tips will help you create a good "About Me" page:

Photo- One of the most important things in your "About Me" page is the photograph you choose. Choosing something that looks professional is important if you want to get noticed and taken seriously. Things to avoid are pictures of your dog, cat, you making funny faces or a picture that is too close up can cause people to be turned away from your "About Me" page. Helium suggests that you choose something that looks professional for a reason.

Good photographs include sitting at your desk working, a professional portrait or something of that nature. Your face should be visible but not so much so that we can see what is up your nose. Pictures that are too far away don't give readers a good idea of what you look like.

Biography- Your biography is where people get to know a little bit about you. This is a good place to highlight your profession, where you are from and what your goals are. You can put too much information in your biography. There is nothing wrong with saying that you have children. What you should leave out is stories about them. You can write about that in articles on the creative writing channel. Give people enough information to know that you are serious about writing. Why do you love writing? How does writing help you? Things of this nature will attract people to you because they will be able to associate with you a little better.

Links- You can add links to Helium's "About Me" page. It isn't hard to do and it is a great way to promote other areas of your business. If you have a blog, you can add the link to the Helium "About Me" page. If you have a business that you wish to promote, you can put the link here. There really is no limit to it.

Favorites- Favorites is where you can add other writer's "About Me" links to your page. This helps other writer's as well as you. You can choose anyone you want to be there. It allows you to keep a closer eye on those writer's whom you enjoy reading. It allows other readers to visit those author's pages to see what you like about them so much. Often times, if you choose someone as a favorite, they will choose you also. It is part of promoting yourself. Use it to the best possible advantage.

Featured article- Choose a featured article that will stand out. It should be something that is important to you. It will share with others what is on your mind at the time. You should change this often so that people have something new to read when they come to your "About Me" page in Helium. It's a great way to promote one of your favorite articles.

Creating a good "About Me" page in Helium is a great way to promote yourself. It allows others to see you in a light that you wish them to see you in. You can be creative with it, but remember that professionalism will get your further in your endeavors.
