Cleaning wood floors is difficult enough, but laminated wood is even more harsh. This is especially if you've never had the experience of cleaning them in the past. You may think, "why would I need to clean my hard wood floors?" Well, you actually do have to. Cleaning wood prevents wear and tear, scuff damages, and extends the life of your laminated wood. Even if you don't like to be barefoot around home, or when you just walked in the door, don't ever walk onto your wood floor with your shoes.
This will definitely those unwanted scuff marks. It also leaves dirt and grim on your floors, which give it a more rough and course feeling after years. If your floor is starting to feel more rough and dry, try out some sandpaper on it. Grabbing a sheet of sandpaper and lightly moving it back and forth on the selected area will smooth it out, leaving it to be softer and maybe even a bit glossier. Now, it's fine to wear socks and slippers on your wood floor, it's even encouraged, since the softness has no harm of damaging it.
And before even thinking about mopping your floors, you need to vacuum, and even use a feather duster of yours to dust off the floors. This is like dusting any hard surface, and it does the trick nicely. Now if you want the laminate to have that sheen again, here's a good tip that will definitely work on any type. Clean your wooded floors with a cup of vinegar poured into a gallon or so of water. Use a sponge to dunk it into the mixture and wipe down your floors where you feel are the grimiest.
Go over your floors two or three times for any unwanted residue, then dry it off. This is a better method as opposed to mops since mops can leave unwanted water residue between the cracks of your floors and the surface. The water can leave spot damage, which could be permanent also if stuck on for too long, sort of like the kind that shower doors can get.
But the vinegar should definitely rid of the problem fast, so it's important to use the water and vinegar method while rubbing down your laminate wood floors. This is the only method that will give you the results you want, so definitely go and test it out, your floors will start to be spotless and shiny, trust me.
