Including historical- they have revenge, as theme.
Shylock's demand for flesh shedding no drop of blood!
Forster and Webster's dramas dealing with blood and horror,
All in medieval period dealt with the theme of revenge.
This was, in other words, the nemesis- the poetic justice.
Even Ramayan and Mahabharata deal with revenge
Though it takes another form: punishment of the wicked.
But great religious teachers including Mohammed,
Cautioned humanity against act of vengeance- they said:
Transformation will come in the wicked if forgiven.
That is the noblest form of revenge! It works!
