Batman Arkham Asylum I will say with no doubt is by far the highest quality Xbox 360 game to date. Fully worth its sixty dollar price tag in every way shape and form. It's amazing to play, and succeeded in making me feel like Batman whist swinging from gargoyles, using clever gadgets, gliding with my memory foam cape, or just beating baddies to a pulp. This game's storyline, voice acting, and bonus content, was what I found to make it the best Xbox 360 game I have ever played.
The game's story begins with Batman apprehending The Joker after a bank robbery attempt gone wrong, or did it? We see our Dark Knight speeding down a rainy Gotham street with the Joker zip-tied in the backseat. Right from the start this game sets the tone with a Batman that comes across as Billy Bad-ass from no-good street and he knows it. The doors open to Arkham Asylum we see a ripped and chiseled hulk-of-a-man standing in the rain in a Batsuit, Joker is thrown into Arkham by Batman like a unwanted stepchild. The warden then takes control of Joker, or does he? I wont spoil anything for anyone. But the game has some very interesting twists and turns that will no doubt make your jaw drop at some point during play.
Another sweet little gem this game offers is the voice acting. The original voices from the Animated series are back with a bang, and have lent their stellar pipes to this game. Mark Hamill plays the Joker with dazzling quips and sadistic remarks. With Kevin Conroy returning in top form to voice Batman, it seems this game can do no wrong. There are also many other voices in the game, such as inmates, and bosses that have great voice acting too!
One of the other great features this game offers is the bonus content which can be unlocked by finding "Riddler's Challenges" hidden cleverly all over Arkham Island by The Riddler himself! Finding these unlocks: character bios, patient interview tapes, challenge maps, and earn you XP points to purchase Batman's upgrades in-game. After finishing the main storyline or even during, Batman can continue to harness his Dark Knight skills in around 12 different challenge maps that pit Batman up against the henchmen of Arkham. This game is an experience NOT to be missed on the 360 this year, a game that makes fanboys like me go weak in the knees.
