Potty training here we come!
All to often parents tend to put way to much stress in to when to start potty training. Potty training can be a very relaxing enjoyable adventure! Children tend to feed off of our emotion therefore if the situation is stressful, frustrating or unpleasant chances are that is how the youngster will be as well. There are many different angles that one might decide to take during the potty training experience.
Look for the warning signs to letting it known that a child is in fact ready for the potty training! Taking off their diaper when it has become soiled,. Or even going to retrieve a diaper laying down to prepare to be changed. It is clear that a child is ready to be potty trained when they start to hide to go number two. A sure sign when a child now understands that going to the bathroom is something that is a little on the embarrassing side along with becoming a more private event.
In my opinion a child is never to young to start to potty train. It is always a good idea to Bring in the training potty just to have it talked about, along with it becoming a part of every day sight. Before to long a child will even start to potty train themselves just by being filled with curiosity. Learning from personal experience it is best to be easy going, reward them when they go to the bathroom, we always do the potty dance to make it that much more positive. We even bought reward stickers so that using the toilet wasn't just an excuse to get jacked up on sugar.
During the beginning stages of potty training do not get discouraged! There will most likely be a lot of accidents it won't take long till the child will realize on their own that they do not like the feeling of wet clothing. It just takes a lot of patience and consistency When parents become forceful or discouraged with a child during this process it can lead to regression, who wants to get to a certain point of the potty training and then have to take ten steps backwards or even worse have to start over completely.
It is wise to allow the child to take the course at their own pace. Make it a game and exciting that "we are going to go buy special big boy/girl underwear", allow them to pick out their favorite character. Also pick up pull ups for the night time once the diapers are done it has to be made a commitment. Also the way that the pull ups feel are different than the diapers they don't quit soak in as well. Yes of course this means there can always be those middle of night bed changes. This all plays the part in the big bad world of potty training. Good luck on the future fun, relax and enjoy the experience it goes by way to fast!
