Let's face it, many times, we are clueless as to which accessories to wear with an outfit. You may find yourself in a dilemma about whether to wear a scarf or a hat, gold or silver jewelry, a chunky bracelet or gaudy ring. However, there is one accessory that goes with every outfit for every occasion (well minus a funeral) and that is a smile. Despite how corny it sounds, it's true. A smile can probably make you look more attractive than any necklace that you wrap around your neck or any earring that you hang on your earlobe. Also, the cost of a smile is free-unless you need antidepressants to even manage a smirk, then those might cost a bit. Yet, many people forget to wear a smile due to daily stress. But, to quote Annie, "you're never fully dressed without a smile."
NOBODY'S PERFECT
You shouldn't shy away from smiling if your teeth aren't exactly perfect. Even people who have had braces for years still end up with some crookedness due to their teeth shifting. The only way to really prevent this is to wear a retainer all the time in between meals or a permanent retainer (both which can become a hassle). And despite how old you may be, if you haven't had braces, you might want to consider getting them.
You may opt to get clear braces also know as Invisalign, however, these types are not for people who have severely crooked teeth, and unless you take good care of them, they have a tendency to crack or break. The regular metal braces are still a good choice and although they may make you look "cute," they certainly won't make you ugly. Besides, you can choose which colors you want and the metal will give your smile extra sparkle. And if your teeth are more than just crooked, but are uneven, have worn enamel, or chips and cracks, you may want to look into getting porcelain veneers, which are custom designed teeth.
But even if you choose not to wear braces, your teeth can still be your accessory and remember that there are many celebrities with less than perfect teeth. Singer Madonna and actress Kristen Dunst, are two beautiful stars that have imperfect teeth. However, it is important to remember that your smile is as unique and beautiful as you are and you shouldn't feel obligated to change it. Instead of getting braces, Madonna made that gap in between her teeth her trademark. And if you are afraid of going in for a kiss because of your teeth, just remember Kristen Dunst's steamy upside down kiss in Spider-Man.
