Avoiding the Christmas rush

The Christmas holiday is soon approaching again. A lot of people moan and groan when they hear that statement but it is true. At the end of September there will only be three more months until Christmas. In one month the store will be decorated in lights, red and green. The stores seem to start decorating earlier and earlier each year trying to get people in the "Christmas mood". I think what retail owners really mean is the shopping and spending mood. What has Christmas become? It seems like more and more each year it becomes a time of shopping. The stores have sales all year long and sometimes better sales at other times during the year. The Christmas holiday is supposed to be about Jesus.

The first way to avoid the Christmas rush is to put Jesus back into the holiday. The point of Christmas is to celebrate when Jesus was born. We are supposed to celebrate the Savior, God's son. Jesus came to earth to save us(the world) from our sins. His birth deserves some celebrating just like we celebrate our own birthday. Give gifts to Jesus instead of every single person in the family. Someone can spend time at the homeless shelter or nursing home. Also donate to churches and charities. The whole family can go to these places to celebrate Christmas with the less fortunate. The Bible says in Matthew 19:21 If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven."

The second way to avoid the Christmas rush is to buy gifts through out the year for everyone. As mentioned earlier there are sales all year long in stores. It is easier to buy as people tell you what they like. If you can not go run out and buy the thing then write it down. Keeping a list of what everyone likes through out the year save time trying to guess. You can go right into the store and get what you need.

The third way is to make Christmas gifts. This is good for people who are creative. This is also a good way to show someone that you really care about the time. You took the time to make them something special. It could be something simple like buying a plain picture frame and decorating it to meet their personal style. As kids, people used to give made gifts all the time. It is still okay to do as an adult. Just be creative this holiday season but always remember that Jesus is the reason.
