WOES OF A POET
I hear the voices in the night
Whispering Get up and write
Poetic lines appear by the number
When I close my eyes in slumber
The voices continue to beat out a rhyme
As I try in vain to sleep one more time
I finally give in and crawl out of bed
Before the rhyming lines leave my head
I stumble and grope my way to the study
And log on to my computer, my writing buddy
As I sit there poised and ready to write
My mind goes blank, try as I might
As my anxiety grows and grows
It's evident my brain has froze
So I give up and go back to bed
When again, rhymes dance in my head
