"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2
Google this passage and you will be sure to find about 7,800 results which will include most every theological spin man may attempt to glue to this scripture. But which if any of them can we believe?
My fundamental hope was originally to be able to answer this question in rudimentary form for all people everywhere. But God made no two people exactly alike and He reveals Himself and speaks to us in a way, which He has tailored specifically for each of us, His beloved creations.I can only share the insight that God has granted me regarding the crucial impact this scripture has had in my life.
It is important to realize that God is not surprised where we are in life. The levels of hell which even Dante could not describe, which we freely walk into by way of our own sin do not surprise Him.
Renewing of the mind and being transformed by it means that there is no shame in confessing to God the sin we have committed that has led us to those places in which our soul is tortured. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." John 1:9 God knows the pain we suffer. We must literally give those sins and our pain over to God. Not owning them for ourselves allows God to change our feelings for us.
Not only will God forgive us but also the book of Psalms says that God takes our negative feelings and the sins we committed that have led us to have them completely away. "As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us." Psalms 103:12
We are never alone. "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5.
God wants us to lean upon him for our every want and every need. "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." I Peter 5:6-7 There is not a reason to fear doing this. That is His will.
Seek out God's refuge. "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler." Psalms 91:4 There is no greater comfort to me than to imagine myself hidden safely in the shadows beneath the wings of God; hidden from the cares of
