It's 6 o'clock. Dad's home from work, the kids are starving, and the fridge is practically empty. Will it be take-out AGAIN, you wonder? Not necessarily. Lucky for you, there are delicious choices all around town where you can find exactly what you crave.
Finding a family-friendly restaurant with great child and adult menus can be a challenge. Especially when you want more than a bucket of chicken or paper-wrapped burgers. But you don't have to give up good food for a family-friendly atmosphere in Nashville. When it comes to time around the dinner table, the city has you served. Here are some of the favorite places adults and children both love to eat.
If Sea World opened a restaurant in Nashville, this would probably be it. Part aquatic show, part seafood feast, this unique venue has been known to serve families memorable experiences time and time again. A 200,000 gallon tank offers diners an underwater experience like no other. Sharks and exotic fish swim throughout the restaurant inside sheer glass walls. Twice a day diners can watch the fish being fed by a scuba diver that joins them in the tank. And don't forget to check out the Sting Ray Reef next door where families can feed live stingrays as they glide around a shallow pool.
Warm comfort is served hot off the griddle at the Pancake Pantry. Locals line the streets every weekend to satisfy a craving only this hot spot will fill. But don't be turned off by the wait. The line always moves quickly in the hands of expert staff who are used to a little extra commotion during peak hours. Children and adults alike will be amazed by the assortment of pancake and syrup varieties. Expect sticky fingers, but be surprised by the delicious recipes. The pancake pantry is located in Hillsboro's West End.
If you're looking for something quick, easy and satisfying then Stax is a great place to eat. Patrons show up hungry and fill their plates with giant, juicy burgers piled high with trimmings from a generous burger bar. Build your own great meal and fries are always included. The food is easy enough for the family, but good enough for co-workers and business people.
Whatever you're craving, make sure you plan ahead and make reservations when possible to avoid a wait. Nashville loves eating out, but you just don't want to be stuck in line behind them all.
