The price of arrogance

What is arrogance? Arrogance is too much self importance and overbearing pride. It can be down right irritating and unpleasant to be around someone who has an arrogant spirit. People of arrogance think only and highly of themselves. As a result of arrogance they end up living lonely lives.

There was a man named Bill who had a lot of family and friends. He was successful at his career as a sales man. He had been with the company for twelve years. He knew the details of every position in the company. The CEO of the company announced his retirement and was looking for someone to take over who had been with the company a long time. Bill was promoted to CEO because of his knowledge, hard work and humble personality. A few months after becoming CEO Bill was getting a lot of attention because he was doing so well. Bill started seeing himself differently. When he would get around family and friends he would boast about his accomplishments. He hardly cared about what other people where going through. After a while his friends began to change. The family and friends got tired of hearing him boast about himself. He figured he did not need them anyway because he hung out with new people that basically worshiped the ground he walked on. Bill just started sending his old friends money for birthdays and holidays instead of visiting them. Soon the company started having trouble with the product they sold. People started suing the company for malfunctions and the sales slowed down. After a couple of years the company folded. Bill was broke, depressed and lonely. The new friends he made while he was CEO left. They did not want anything to do with him since he was broke. He went to his old family and friends for help but they told him no because he became arrogant. He hurt their feelings by not caring about them when he became CEO. They did give him a Bible and told him to humble himself unto the mighty of hands of God and He will bless him in due time. When Bill went to his car he started to read the Bible. He prayed and asked God for forgiveness from his sins. Then out of the Bible came an envelope with a note on it. The note was from his family and friends saying we did not spend the money you gave because what we wanted was your heart. Inside the envelope was the money he sent them. It was enough for him to get back on his feet.

Bill eventually started his own company that he is running successfully and with humility. He learned that it does not pay to be arrogant.
