Self-Affirmation
Maybe it is healthy to laugh about our shortcomings, but the laughs need to stop as we learn to speak to ourselves with compassion. Neither does it mean we live in a delusional state. Some Christians move the affirmation to prayerful communication with our Lord, but all humans need to keep self communication in the afirmative.
Acceptance
Humans need to reflect on ones fault, but need to do so with realism and acceptance of variety. One cannot reflect on ourselves in the light of professional polished and hair-sprayed individuals media puts forth as models. Do you really want to wake to the hairdressers, trainers, make-up artist and stylist that create this image. Even than the media icons' pictures still need airbrushing? The looks of humans vary, even though our DNA is phenomenally the same. Through acceptance of our place in the variation of humankind, we develop a healthy mental state
The Beginning
Before anything confronts us about our shortcoming, we need to prepare ourselves for the negatives of the world. The day needs to begin with a wake to acceptance of ourselves in mind, body and spirit. We hope, the night refreshed the body with sleep, but if restless sleep kept us awake affirmations are a high priority
Wake to rejoice to the fact that you have another day. Much use the scripture that "This is the day the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it." With this, you can speak to yourself of what you want from the day. One day at a time and one minute at a time is the purpose of affirmations. Without a religious faith, you can still affirm another day of life and begin to reflect on your individual value.
The Negative Hits
The world hits us. Our negatives blindside us. We can acknowledge our challenge and then speak of our triumph or celebrate our uniqueness. We can find the humor and even remember when the fault surfaced previously or as my natural shortcoming. Self-talk can get us back on track. Reflections of whether we have power of the situation at all require us to refuse to speak negatively to self of things that we cannot change.
If a change is required, we can acknowledge our goal and celebrate our successful mastering the challenge. The affirmation comes from the realization that we are a piece of the world and a project in construction rather than a completed project. Through gentle talking, we can acknowledge the strengths we have to deal with the challenge. People of the Christian faith use this as prayerful communication.
The one thing we can control is our thoughts. No one can take this away from us. With positive affirmation and reflections, we acknowledge our place in the world.
