NFL 2007 Pro Bowl fiasco: Merriman suspended - and rewarded?

We all know they exist. If you want some, just go to the biggest guy in your local gym and ask him where he gets his juice from. We also are all aware of the damage they cause to your body and the risk you take every time you put the needle in. That doesn't stop some players though.
Shawne Merriman is not just that big guy at your local gym, he's an NFL player that tested positive for performance enhancing drugs and was suspended for a quarter of the regular season. He was also voted into the Pro Bowl. This brings up a huge debate. The same debate that the MLB is going through with hall of fame opprotunity for those suspected or convicted of doping. The NFL has already revamped its policy to say that beginning next year any player that tests positive will not be elligible for awards or Pro Bowl appearences. Merriman was grandfathered in though and will be in Honolulu this weekend. Merriman is a dominant player who has publically spoken about the shame of his actions and will hopefully learn from this expirience.
Because of the new rules being implemented next year, this situation will be prevented from here on out. Enjoy the game!
