The bedroom is a place to relax and rest. If you're living in a room that is full of clutter you aren't going to be able to rest very well so you must get it organized. The hard part is actually keeping the room free from all of the overflow you find yourself bringing into the bedroom. You have to remember that the bedroom isn't a storage facility for the things that you wish to have on hand, you can use a shed for that. So how do you go about ridding the bedroom of clutter and keeping it organized?

A good look around will often show you that you have excess of somethings whether you've realized it or not. There isn't any need to have two dozen of the same thing anywhere in the house. When your things are overflowing onto the tops of your dressers because the drawers and closet are all full you may have gone overboard. Are you taking advantage of the space you have to its full capabilities or are you simply assuming that there will never be enough space? This is often the case when you think that you've got too much furniture for the room that you're in.

The closet and dresser drawers are where your clothes belong not thrown in the floor or filed on top of the bed. Go through your clothes and determine what you don't wear or want anymore. Then decide if you want to have a yard sale, consign them or donate them to charity. Whatever you do get rid of them, it'll give you more room and less to figure out what to do with. Now the problem is what to do with the rest of the things in your bedroom. This should include figuring out what to do with the two dozen shoes and accessories that you're hanging onto just in case you decide to wear them again one day.

Organizing the closet with the clothes that you wear to work each day and creating more space in it to keep them wrinkle free will help to save you time ironing. Does your closet have shelves? Taking advantage of the shelf space by utilizing dividers will help you to keep everything in it's place and easier to find. You want to be sure that you have things where you can find them easily. Bedding, holiday gifts and accessories that you only use occassionally can go in the shelves of the closets.

There are spaces in the bedroom that aren't utilized, the most often overlooked is the bottom of the closet and the inside of the door. Putting a shoe tower in the bottom of the closet will help you to organize them and find them quickly. Placing a hook over the door will give you somewhere to place the accessories that you need to get to quickly in the mornings.

Under the bed is another place that's often overlooked. Placing lifts on the bed posts will increase the space under the bed. This will allow you to use under the bed storage containers with wheels in order to get your things in and out easily. If you're in the market for a new bed entirely you might want to look into one that comes with drawer in the base. This can allow you to get rid of one of the dressers and create more open space in the bedroom.

While you're organizing the bedroom you might like to rearrange the furniture. When you find the way that the furniture makes you feel most comfortable you'll find that you're more relaxed and it's easier to feel rested in the morning. Changing your habits will help you to keep the sense of order that you've created.
