Must I?
I ask you this:
Why must I know the evils of life
Before I know the joys?
Why must I see such fear and hate
Taken out on girls and boys?
Why must I learn of sinful deeds
That I did not commit?
Why must I tell the tale of time
That has no charm, or wit?
Why must I be told of power and wealth
When they're things I'm not destined to reach?
Why must I believe when there's no one left
To renew my faith, or to preach?
Why must I die after living a life
Full of questions I don't understand?
Why must I live when I'll never see
The beauty of this promised land?
I ask you.
