AUTUMN LEAVES

The crisp morning bite
Wrapping round me in the morn
Reminds me of the colors
Orange pumpkins, yellow corn

The grass is dewed and wet
And the skies are still dark
The crickets loudly sing
In the distance the dogs bark

Its early in the morning
On a brittle autumn day
My feet crunch merrily
As I enter work or play

The leaves lie before me
Some soft, some breakable
I trek through them all
Their origin unmistakable

Tis colored autumn leaves
That signal the end
Of the long hot summer
Of days that wouldn't end

The leaves snap and fall
As they make their way to earth
They land here and there
In their death, giving birth

They welcome in the autumn
Those leaves of many colors
They announce their entrance
Giving fodder to collectors

The autumn leaves are here
The summer green is gone
The winter soon to arrive
Bringing yet another dawn
