If you are a fan of the Harry Potter series and want to dress up lie on of the characters for Halloween, you're in the right place. Here are some fantastic ideas on how to dress up as Harry, Hermione or Ron and be the hit of the party.

Dress Like Harry Potter

Find some black horn rimmed glasses. These are a must, as they are the most distinguishable physical characteristic of Harry Potter. Get a Black Choir Robe. You can buy these at religious stores, or borrow one from church. Get a wand. It really doesn't matter what the wand is made of, but you have to have one. Carry a broom. A broom is also a must considering that Harry Potter plays Quidditch so much. While your at it, get a small tennis ball or racquet ball and paint it gold. For those of you who don't know what this is, it's the "golden snitch". Draw a Scar on Your Forehead. Harry Potter's forehead scar is notorious. So take some black face paint or an eyeliner and draw a lightning strike shaped scar on your forehead.

Get some friends. No one likes to dress up alone, and this is one time where you definitely need some sidekicks. Ideally, you need at least one girl to dress like Hermione and one boy to dress like Ron. Dress Like Hermione Granger Get a black choir robe to wear. These can be found at religious stores, some Christian bookstores or you can borrow one from church. Try looking at your local thrift store as well. Wear a white collared button down dress shirt and tie. This should go on underneath the black robe. And yes, even the girls wore the ties. Wear a skirt, Hermione almost always wears a skirt. A plaid schoolgirl type skirt works best.

If children are dressing up like Hermione, they can just wear the skirt from their school uniforms. If it's cool outside, wear a scarf. Orange and yellow striped scarves are best because they are the ones that all of the Hogwarts students wear. However, if you cannot find that specific color combination, then any scarf will do. Make sure to carry a wand. Hermione and the rest of the Harry Potter characters always carry wands, so make sure you have one too. Don't forget to carry a broom. Every good wizard has a broom, so don't forget yours.

For an added touch carry around a few Harry Potter books. Hermione is notorious for being very studious and she usually carries around a lot of books. Dress Like Ron Weasley Get a black choir robe. All of the students at Hogwarts, including Ron, Harry and Hermione all wear black robes. A choir robe can be found at religious stores and even some Christian bookstores Always wear a white collared button down dress skirt and a tie. This should go under your robe. If it's cool weather, then consider wearing a scarf. Yellow and orange striped scarves are best because they are exactly like the ones the Hogwarts students wear in the movies and books. However, if you can't find that specific color combination, then any scarf will do. Make sure to carry a wand with you. A wizard is never without his or her wand, so you better have one too. You need to have red hair. Ron's most distinguishing feature is his red hair. So if you already have red hair, then you are all set. If you don't have red hair you are going to need to get a wig if you want to dress up like an authentic Ron. Carry a broom. Brooms are important modes of transportation for wizards, so this is an important part of the wardrobe.
