Choices: An Angel in the Details

"The difficulty is, when choices are offered, a choice must be made". Tongue in cheek or not, the world offers an endless array of choices, whether academically necessary, occupational, personal, or sub-categorized into engaging social tricks and difficult financial endeavors. Difficulty making decisions is encountered equally by the meek, the stalwart, the coward, and the brave. Upon occasion, the stress of encountering difficulty in making choices happens to everyone, young or old, regardless of educational level . Whether you consider yourself to be self- confident or a mild, obsessively cooperative individual, you are frequently required to make choices and decisions, from those minuscule and insignificant details to mind-boggling and life-saving decisions critical in nature.

Think about the last choice you made. Was it yesterday, or only moments ago? What was your reply? Did you respond eagerly and say yesterday and ignore the fact that you also made a choice in offering that answer? Did you reply immediately, stop and think about it, or were you forced by habit to knowingly procrastinate and obsess painfully while making that simple choice? Do you experience difficulty in making choices?

To reduce the confusion one may inevitably feel when difficult choices must be made, it must be understood exactly what is being asked of you, and why. Is the choice one of life-saving importance, or one that determines how fluffy your day-to-day comfort might be? What are the long-term implications of either choice? Will a specific choice generate future difficulty, or solve a long-term problem? Will you regret having made one choice or the other?

How do you choose? It is often quoted : the devil is in the details. Considering the balance in nature and humanity, may it be equally offered that the angel is in the details? The nature of the choice itself may reasonably dictate how much care and thought must be applied to the chosen decision. Is morality at stake? Are ethics in question? It is a given that making a correct choice based upon morality, personal beliefs and faith in God is one that will leave you in good stead, in spite of the fact that one may be shocked to disbelief in having to give up a benefit, or being required to make a sacrifice at the time of making a choice. Such is the price of making correct choices.
