There are certain online habits that you should always avoid. There are predators waiting to snatch up any information they can on you. There are hackers that would love to send a virus to your computer. That isn't the only problem though. You should use good etiquette when you are online. Getting into the good habit of watching what you do online keeps you from hurting others and others from hurting you.
Here are some bad online habits that you should always avoid:
• Too much information
One bad habit that you should avoid online is giving out too much information in social networking sites, chats or anywhere else. This includes posting pictures of yourself that are less than upstanding. These types of things can ruin your chances of landing that perfect job you want. I can also turn off great people and attract the wrong sort of person to you. The last thing you want to do is attract people who are out to harm you.
• Rudeness
Avoid this bad online habit at all costs. You shouldn't be any more rude to people on the online than you are to those in your real life. Why would you want to hurt someone's feelings online when you would never do it to their face? It's a form of bullying. Make your mother proud and be polite to everyone that comes into your life daily whether on the internet of in real life.
• Online shorthand
Most people online use them but that doesn't mean it is a good habit. This is one bad habit that can get on the nerves of even the most addicted internet user. Break this bad habit before you can't even speak your real language. Using online shorthand is fine every once in a while but shouldn't be used as your second language. BTW (by the way) and BRB (be right back) are fine when you are using a chat site. However, overuse of these types of abbreviations will encourage others to ignore what you have to say because it is too complicated to figure it out. Cryptic language shouldn't be used for conversations in a public place.
• Social networking surveys
If you go to sites like MySpace, you will know what these are. These are the surveys that other people fill out and post as a bulletin. These surveys are fun to fill out or give you something to do when you are completely bored out of your mind. There is a bad habit that some people need to get out of when it concerns these online surveys. Stop honestly answering anything that asks for parts of your phone number, address, social security number or any other
