Being transformed by the renewing of your mind refers to the work of the Holy Spirit. As we read the Bible and apply its principles to our lives, we will be changed or transformed. The Bible states we should let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in us. Our carnal minds are not like Jesus. We have to thoroughly read the Bible and apply those principles to our lives. Many people know how they ought to live, but they do not live that way. if they have the knowledge and do not apply it, it cannot produce transformation.

Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly expecting a different outcome. If our lifestyle does not allow us to have peace and joy, there is obviously a problem. Transformation will bring love, joy, peace, temperance, long-suffering, and other quality traits known as the fruit of the spirit. These things only come when our mind is renewed. When we are transformed, we no longer are able to live as carnal Christians. We will wholeheartedly desire to adhere to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The apostle Paul persecuted the church of Christ. He ordered that Christians be beaten and killed. He even watched as Steven, a follower of Jesus was stoned to death. However, one day he was blinded. He was given instructions by Jesus Christ. He followed those instructions. His sight was given back to him. In spite of the treacherous things he had done, God had mercy on him. God had mercy because Paul was willing to obey. Paul was well educated, however, in scripture he admitted that he knew nothing until he knew Christ. This shows that his mind had to be renewed. His way of thinking had to change. If we are not willing to give up our simple way of thinking, God cannot transform us.

Transformation is not some magical occurrence. It is a process. As we grow in knowledge, we grow in faith. Faith will produce things in our lives. Without faith it is impossible to please God. It requires much prayer to be transformed, because as humans we tend to fall. However, we must understand that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. If we confess our sin, God is faithful and just to forgive. The Bible states that we should not be weary in well doing. For we shall reap a harvest if we do not faint. This simply means if we keep doing the things that are pleasing to God, He will bless us.

As we study the Bible, we will grow in knowledge, but we must also pray for understanding.. It is not beneficial to know something but not understand it. The more we read the Bible, the easier it is to understand it. When we understand it, then we can apply it. When we apply it, we will be transformed.
