Poetry: Forgotten

like fall's somersaults

in fine linens of auburn, gold, and brilliant bronze

we blaze like comets across the inkwell sky

...in such a rush....

to bask in the rose's blush

not to linger but to awe and hush

to touch and possess with such nerve

like to prepare the finest delicacy

with no intention to ingest or serve

another trophy

to place upon the heap of audacity

striving to reach the apex of absurdity

with the glow of tenacity

fixated with the uncured foundation of the now....as in...right....NOW!

we stamp and stain our brow and palms

as we subconsciously pen our psalms

of the forgotten

neatly strewn about with "delicious verbiage"

carefully selected

crossing carelessly

twixt insidious streets and awry aves

we laugh and mock the clock

unaffected

come forth and let us claim

that which our future generations

will strive to reject

to reveal with regret

to conceal to protect

who will join me in reverence?

of such a fine heritage

join me now

and let us humbly reflect

and show our deepest respect

for tomorrow's soon forgotten
