Cebu is located in the center of the Visayas region in the Philippines. The capital, Cebu City, is also known as the Queen City of the south. Cebu City is one of the biggest cities in the Philippines. It is just about an hour away by plane or about 24 hours by boat from Philippines capital Manila. Cebu City is conveniently located in the middle of the Cebu province which boasts of white beaches.

Cebu has a warm tropical climate which is ideal for someone who loves the beach. Except for the months of May to November, the weather is usually sunny and warm. White sand beaches are the main attractions of Cebu. There are several beautiful white beaches in the mainland and there are outlaying islands as well that boasts not only of white sand beaches and crystal clear water but of diving spots as well.

Of the several islands in Cebu, Bantayan Island, Camotes Island, Malapascua Island and Badian Island are among those that stand out. The first three are located in the northern part of Cebu while Badian Island is in the southern part. The islands are very accessible from Cebu City. One can take advantage of the public buses that service the southern and northern route. Vans for hire are also available for a more convenient travel. One can take the local Jeepney for a totally unique experience of travelling by land. Boat and ferry rides are servicing the routes to the outlaying islands. Once in one of the islands, beaches are just a walk away or local tricycles are also available for transportation.

Aside from the beautiful island beaches Cebu also has several heritage and historical sites. Churches dating back to the time of Magellan and the oldest street and university in the Philippines can be found in Cebu. Magellan's Cross which is the place where Ferdinand Magellan erected the first Cross to symbolize the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines can be found in downtown Cebu City. Magellan's fall was land-marked by Lapu-lapu Shrine is in the neighbouring City of Lapu-lapu.

Festivals are also one thing that Cebu is famous for in the Philippines. The grandest and most prestigious among them is the Sinulog Festival which is being celebrated in Cebu City every third week of January. It is Philippines version of the Mardi Gras. Sinulog is celebrated the whole week long and culminates on the third Sunday of January with the Grand Parade participated by street dancers from all over the country. Other festivals are being celebrated in the nearby cities and municipalities all year round.

Cebu is one of the best destinations in the Philippines and Asia when it comes to climate, beaches, heritage and historical sites and festivities that are as diverse as the people living in the province.
