There's a book entitled "Do What You Love, the Money will Follow". I've never read the book though I used to work for the publisher that published it! But I have always loved the title. There are caveats that follow this pronouncement, such as you have to have some sort of business sense, but apart from that little issue, you have the best chance of not only succeeding in a home based business doing what you love, but you also stand the best chance of succeeding.
CHOOSING A HOME BASED BUSINESS
When you choose a business of any kind, it only makes sense that you choose one where will use your skills and abilities to their maximum potential. Start by making a list of your skills and abilities, then circle the ones you love. I bet most of them are the same and those are the ones to turn into a home based business.
DOING WHAT YOU LOVE WILL DRIVE YOU
Choosing a home based business doing what you love to do will make it easy for you to put the time and effort into building the business. You will want to get up in the morning and get to work. And it takes lots of work to create a successful business. For example, when I was pregnant with my second son, I got it in my head that I wanted to buy and sell used baby furniture. I was on fire with this idea. It might have been raging hormones, but nonetheless, I was inspired. I always love to shop for bargains. Garage sales, flea markets, you name it, they were my favorite way to spend my day off. I had a business sense and experience to go along with it, a love for retail sales, a love for all things "baby" and before you know it, eight months pregnant I was opening a used baby furniture store.
I was cleaning and arranging the store when I went into labor and my son came with me to work everyday once we were both up and going again. I loved what I did and because I loved it I had no problem working under any circumstances! The business was a great success.
DOING WHAT YOU LOVE WILL BRING YOU HAPPINESS
I eventually sold my baby furniture business because my husband was transferred out of the town where we were living. My husband and I shared a favorite pastime. We bought old homes and fixed them up...for ourselves, because we loved to do it. Five years after selling my first business we embarked on a home improvement business and once again were driven by the love of turning something old and run down into something new and homey. Our business has thrived for for 18 years and while he is still hard at it, I have moved on
