Poetry: Self-image

When I look at the mirror and see this face,
a conqueror I see; there is nothing I would replace.
All the wrinklesl have their personal histories;
some cause tears, others recall some glories.

The lips once tasted heaven's sweet nectar;
the ears heard avowals of love - near and afar.
Hair that glowed with youth's natural vibrancy,
now needs conditioners to gain some normalcy.

Skin, once as smooth as nature's finest silk,
needs moisturizers, serums and even milk.
Double chins aren't really about excesses;
the wrinkly neck does cause some distress.

Yet, I smile when I remember days of my prime
all the wonderful delightful and fantastic times.
Love and golden splendor was mine to share;
I had something wonderful, few could compare.

Nights were never long enough to appease
the fires with you who wanted only to please.
I knew infinite passions of a loving soul mate,
whose death left an ache time cannot alleviate.

His memories live on, they are a part of me;
love's lyrics in my heart play our symphony.
