Finding the perfect weight loss formula
Wouldn't it be the scientific breakthrough of all time if there was a perfect weight loss formula? The press would herald the miracle in every paper, magazine and television newscast and XM Radio would most likely devote an entire band of station programming to The Perfect Weight loss Formula. Millions, maybe billions of people would beg, borrow or steal for the formula and so it would soon become the biggest business in the world, if it isn't already.
Hundreds of fad diets have promised their formula to be just that, the perfect or secret formula for weight loss success. Billions of dollars have been made by physicians, nutritionists, weight loss clinics and professional organizations all promising they have the formula. Billions have been spent by consumers hoping for the perfect formula and so, they have fallen for The Grapefruit with every meal formula, the No Carbs formula, the Pre-measured Package formula, the Liquid formula, the Water formula, the Four Bowls of Cereal a Day formula, the Skinny French Girl formula, The Mediterranean formula, The Japanese formula, the Celebrity formula, the No Fat formula, the No Sugar formula, the Food Combining formula, and best of all, The Cabbage Soup formula. So many strange combinations, so many restrictions, so many diets. Why then, are we still searching for the perfect formula?
What of those who never have enough to eat? They are thin, not obese, they need no special formula to gain weight, they need access to food so they can take in more calories. Do we need a perfect formula for them? No, they need more calories, we need less. That is the formula. There are no special foods, no special formulas and no ratios. It is all based on Calories in and calories out.
There are 3500 calories to a pound. If you need to gain a pound you will have to take in an extra 3500 calories. If you want to lose a pound, you will need to lose 3500 calories which can be accomplished by eating less, using more energy, or a combination of both. It doesn't matter how you manage to do without the 3500 calories but it is best to eat a nutritionally sound diet. If you do without 350 calories a day and take a 30 minute brisk walk that burns 150 calories, you will lose about 3500 calories in one week which is equal to one pound. If you wants to gain one pound you could eat 500 calories more a day for one week to achieve the extra 3500 calories needed to equal one pound. Calories in and calories out.
