My experiences in World of Warcraft

Level 1 tauren warrior. That was where it started. That day in late September, 2006, I had no idea the journey I was about to embark on. I did not know the friends I would make, and still keep in touch with today. The numerous guilds I would be in, each of which fell apart in the end like a product that reached the end of it's life cycle. Or the countless hours I would spend in dungeons, trying to get that one single token to drop for me. What an incredible journey it has been.

The show South Park is where it started. An episode where the boys are in the World of Warcraft, or WoW as we call it, trying to fend off a guy with no life, that has somehow taken over the system and is killing everyone. A lot of the mechanics in the episode are made up, but it showed a lot of actual in game footage. I am a gamer, and fantasy games are my preference, and the footage looked incredible. The armor was big and detailed, the weapons were over-sized and artfully crafted, the environment was rich and colorful, and it just looked perfect. After seeing the boys fend off this rogue (not the class lol) player, with the Sword of a Thousand Truths, I decided I was getting that game!

All of the amazing classes to choose from, what did I want to be. Warlocks with their ability to twist the nether and produce damage while draining their targets life. Mages controlling the elements of frost, fire and the arcane. Rogues with their sneaking, and assassin style gameplay. Priests healing there way through fights, or giving into the shadow and destroying everything like a warlock. Paladins, much like the healing priest, but with plate armor and known for mace wielding. Shamans being in control of the elements of nature. Druids shapeshifting accordingly to each type of fight, playing many different roles. Hunters with their ranged attacks and pets. Each class was unique in it's own way, but the one that had, and for the longest time entertained me, was the warrior. With his ability to use high armor and shields, along with any weapon in the game he wanted - it was an easy choice for me in the end.

The road to the level cap was a long brutal one, especially being my first time through. I wanted to do everything. I spent many hours in cross-server battlegrounds, honing my skills against other players. I would throw on my shield and take the tank roll, and get abused over and over in dungeons. I would get lost in Stonetalon Mountains, Ashenvale, and find myself in the middle of the Wetlands
