As a bird perched on the edge of its nest
eyes searching the unknown world outside
strengthening its wings, yearning to fly
hungering for the freedom of the open skies
I stand upon the edge of a cliff
needing to escape the pain behind me
yet afraid of the emptiness in front of me
If I stay with the pain,
I at least have you
if I jump away from the pain,
I have nothing
You stand there watching me balancing on the edge
you, with the power to stop me
you, with the power to push me
I see your arms reach out towards me
I fall
Looking back with the wind in my face,
I wonder
did you push me?
were you trying to stop me?
Did I jump away from the pain
or did I simply misunderstand
and lose my balance?

Poetry: Lost love
by Olu Burrell
I think about you when I'm looking ahead
And also in moments of reminiscence
But do me a favor and don't ask me
To tell you
The man in the jacket, walking through snow,
His faithful friend, always in tow,
Forever smiling, happy look on his face,
Whatever
So there we were
Looking up at the sky,
Together.
Truly thought
That you and I
Could storm
Any kind of weather.
I still
Do not wait for me with bated breath,
because my heart dances to and fro.
Its chambers are hollowed and empty
it longs for
As a bird perched on the edge of its nest
eyes searching the unknown world outside
strengthening its wings, yearning to fly
