The Super NES, was a 16-bit Nintendo console. It featured a good number of Nintendo and third party games. Overall, some of the best games can be considered to be:
Street Fighter 2
Street Fighter 2 was a great combat game on the console. Originally, it featured eight characters but then further Street Fighter 2 games such as Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo extended the selection up to 12 in total. In addition, a Super Street Fighter 2 game had up to 16 to select from, with a further four added. Overall, it was probably the best combat game with a variety of levels and game settings.
Super Mario World
Super Mario World was a 2d Mario platform game. It featured up to 96 great levels that could be played out, and introduced Yoshi the dinosaur that Mario could ride on. Few platform games have been better than this Mario game.
Super Mario Kart
This was another Mario game, but not a platform game. For Mario Kart was in fact a Mario theme racing game, which had up to eight riders for selection, and a number of tracks to race on. The game was original and fun.
Zelda a Link to the Past
There was only one Zelda game on the Super NES, and it was a great RPG. Zelda on the SNES added many new and exciting game items and features, which made the overall game all the better. Overall, few Zelda games have been better.
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario All Stars was not a single game, but was a compilation of Mario games on the NES including the first three Mario platform games. It included up to four of the Mario games, which were enhanced on the Super NES console. Overall, Mario All Stars was great retro gaming.
Donkey Kong
The Nintendo/Rare Donkey Kong games really showcased the Super NES with great effects. Donkey Kong also introduced Diddy Kong, as a second player to navigate the various levels. As a platform game it was not that original, but was still one of the best platform games on the console along with Super Mario World.
Starwing
Starwing was a 3d Super FX flight game that was original. The game was a spaceship shooting game, that although a little linear had 3d polygons and effects. It starred a fox as pilot, with a few other ships in support through the various levels.
Overall, those were a few of the top games on the Super NES console. Curiously enough, they were largely Nintendo games, with the exception of Street Fighter 2 and Donkey Kong.
