COMFORTABLY NUMB
Today , I doubt this world and in it every face
When yesterday it appeared like a benevolent place
Why such a transformation I find no answer to this
But I can feel that something is amiss?
Humanity ..does it exist or am I in a delusion ?
Just a simple act of kindness I thought, then why is the confusion ?
At the signal, I saw a child , no shelter and his body bare
His eyes hollow a void in his stare
For those who passed him by ..they did not care
He was inconspicuoushe was not even there
He sat there on the street desperate for bread
No one heeded , a malnourished dog nudged him instead
Yesterday I would have touched his face gently with my palm
I would alleviate his pain, would have given him alms
But today I look at him with the same frigid stare
I shrug and think,Well that's life and it ain't fair
Oblivious to his tears , I don't hear him cry
As the signal turns green, I just drive by
I made no difference, when did I alter
I am no different , my action did falter
I followed the herd , I do the exact same
Though my body still sound , my mind has turned maim
Yesterday I was polite, I had good grace
Today I doubt this world and in it my very own face !

it is an illusion of the past yet happens every day.
Today is a time that things
Let me get caught up today
get what I haven't done complete
stay current with all I should do
instead of dragging my feet
I've
