as he stood and strummed his guitar
I was falling hopelessly
absorbed in him from afar
We laid in the tall weeds
helplessly taken with one another

though a twinkle still lingers
the warmth of his cheeks
the feel of his fingers
First love is not forever
there is no one here to blame
the way my heart feels heavy
just in passing
the sound of his name
