Poetry: Him

by Sara Knight

Created on: September 01, 2009   Last Updated: September 04, 2009

I watched him in envy
as he stood and strummed his guitar
I was falling hopelessly
absorbed in him from afar

We laid in the tall weeds
helplessly taken with one another
wanting to fulfill his wildest dreams
how could I ever imagine any other

As the seasons would change
so it was his love had died
the damage already done
he kissed me as I cried

Though the years carried on
I kept our time buried in my heart
the news of his upcoming marriage
the feeling of being worlds a part

I have since moved on with my life
though a twinkle still lingers
the warmth of his cheeks
the feel of his fingers

First love is not forever
there is no one here to blame
the way my heart feels heavy
just in passing
the sound of his name
