Sale! This word, no matter what you are selling, is guaranteed to grab attention. Yard sale, estate sale, moving sale, or garage sales are a win-win situation for all; they're excellent ways to clean out those unwanted, outgrown, and unused items that are taking up space in your home. Yard/garage sale hosts benefit by making some extra cash while cleaning out unneeded items, and buyers benefit buy getting great deals on your gently-used items. In today's economy yard sales are an easy way to buy just about anything that you may want or need and get a great deal in the bargain. The following are some helpful tips for yard sellers to ensure a successful sale.

Planning is the first step. Saturdays are the ideal day, it would smart to find out when your area's largest employer pays employees; the first Saturday of the month is usually a good weekend. Check the weather reports in the days prior to your sale, if rain is a possibility determine if you have someplace to have your sale indoors or if you should reschedule for another time. Another idea is to check with your neighbors to see if anyone may be interested in going in with you and having a neighborhood or block yard sale; this will guarantee more items and will draw a larger crowd; the more you have the better. If you are able to enlist neighbors, friends or family members to join you in the sale you could share the costs of advertising and make it more profitable for everyone.

Preparation is key- Preparation tips:

Location! Location! Location! The more traffic that can see your sale and signs, the better.

Make sure there is adequate parking for four to five cars at a time.

Do not to pick a holiday weekend for your sale date, at least not major holidays.

A day or two before your sale cut your grass and pick up anything you don't want to be confused with yard sale items.

Start a yard sale box to collect items for your yard sales. This is a great way to organize your clothes, kids clothes, toys, tools, electronics, etc that can be re-sold. If you test, clean and price the items as you put them in the box they are all ready the day of the sale.

Make sure you clean all items before putting out for sale, make sure items are in working order (if not, list what is wrong and indicate sold as is). Nothing is a bigger turn off that to get out at a promising looking yard sale only to find that the items are dirty, covered with cobwebs or clothing that is wrinkled and stained. Your customers are likely to turn right
