I am fully convinced
That we as humans
With our faulty vision
Will never know true love
Here on this earth
True love is beyond our understanding
It is beyond our comprehension
It is too vast to conceive
So we will go about our lives
Living not a lie
But never the whole of the truth
While we make believe
We know what love is
And each time
Man fails our misguided standards
Then we are left to mourn
From betrayal and controlling devices of the heart
With verbal assault
With the words that stab the heart
And we will not expect it
Because we believe we are truly loved
But we are not
And when it happens
Our faith is shattered
And we retreat to the shadows alone...
