Many a times you are not the best judge about whether you have behaved in the most correct manner. The spectators or the person with whom you had a conversation or an argument may have different views. The good part is at least you are given a grading almost instantly that you were not fair or your were great. But this road is closed when it comes to online behaviour and therefore it becomes tougher and more important to follow certain codes of conduct while being an online citizen.
Rule number 1 should be , always listen to your conscience. In most most cases without reading any agreement clauses or terms and conditions , you can access what is right and what is not-so-right.So choose to be ethical and not forced by the rules.Let me take the example of this writing affair in Helium itself.A lot of times while rating articles I come across alien fonts and absolutely unrelated phrases from what the title says.Helium is a very responsive site and it really encourages you to write and therefore anyone should be writing following its simple terms.Similarly a lot of websites ask you to write and send your sample works and next day you see the same thing written on some other site by someone else. Now these things really do not need any clauses or terms to guide you.But that does not mean one should not go through the literature available in any of the sites they are visiting. The best way is to know and be sure of which websites are you visiting and how could you benefit from you.
With the mushrooming os social networking sides , the whole society is showing a tremendous amount of change. For example a few years back when someone came to visit you , you would share some nice pictures with them and not all.But now a days one can see generations in the net! Well its a very personal choice but if you are in a professional networking site and uploaded some wild party pics,it is not going to be in your favour. It does not hurt to keep a very tidy and professional image on the net where you can be watched anytime.
I think turning a blind eye to spams and all kinds of frauds in the net is more dangerous than the spams itself.Sometimes people are tempted to open a mail just because the title says that they have won a one million dollar for some thing they never applied for. This is really something no one can teach you if your experience hasn't.The never ending series of chain mails are also one of the most disturbing elements in the online space. This not only eats up the servers space but also is a complete waste of time.
So whenever you are online, just think how would you like to be treated and act the same way.If you are not sure join some expert courses or take some expert advice. You could find some interesting pointers at http://www.behaviouronline.com/.
