Poetry: Turn away

Turn Away!

When the bells stop ringing
When the birds aren't singing
When the sun goes down
And the grass turns brown

When your love grows cold
Whether young or old
And your tongue won't stutter
From a heart a'flutter
Turn Away!

When your legs grow weary
And your shoulders droop
When the chaos of life
Throws you for a loop

When the moon wanes full
And the stars won't shine
Where the darkness of spirit
Meets the dullness of mind
Turn Away!

Yes, Turn Away, my Friend!
From the past and pain
From your sullen moods
Filled with gloom and rain

For the day will dawn
At the rainbow's end
And the sun will shine
Once again, my Friend

Only turn away!
And embrace the good
Let kindness reign
Sweet Sisterhood!

Yes, Turn Away!
And the darkest night
Will slowly give way
To the bright morning light

But you must choose today
Without doubt or delay
Down go down that dead end
Please, my Friend!
Turn Away!
