Famous People from New Hampshire

New Hampshire may be a small state but there are many famous people that hail from this lovely state.

Bode Miller- Bode Miller was born Samuel Bode Miller on 10-12-1977 in Eaton, New Hampshire. He is a champion alpine ski racer. He is a 4-time World Champion and won 2 silver medals in the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Matt Bonner- Matt Bonner was born Matthew Robert Bonner and is now as Red Rocket. He was born 04-05-1980 in Concord, New Hampshire. Matt is a basketball player for the NBA's San Antonio Spurs. Matt attended Concord High School and played high school basketball. He attended the University of Florida where he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls. In 2006, he was traded to the Spurs.

Carlton Fisk- Carlton Fisk was born Carlton Earnest Pudge Fisk on 12-26-1947. He is a former Major League Baseball catcher who played for the Boston Red Sox from 1969, 1971-1980 and the Chicago White Sox from 1981-1993. He was voted Rookie of the Year in 1972 and retired in 1993.

Triple H- Triple H was born Paul Michael Levesque on 07-27-1969. He is a professional wrestler with World Wrestling Entertainment. The name Triple H comes from his ring name, Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Triple H began his wrestling career in 1993 with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and joined WWE in 1995. Triple H has 13 world champions.

Dan Brown- Dan Brown was born 06-22-1964 in Exeter, New Hampshire. Dan is the bestselling author of The Da Vinci Code.

John Irving- John Irving was born John Wallace Blunt Jr. on 03-02-1942 in Exeter, New Hampshire. He is an American novelist and screenwriter. His most popular works include The World According to Garp and The Cider House Rules.

Alan Shepard- Alan Shepard was born Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr. on 11-18-1923 in Derry, New Hampshire. He died on 07-21-1998. He was a retired Rear Admiral in the Us Navy, the 1st American in space and the 5th person to walk on the moon.

Seth Meyers- Seth Meyers was 12-28-1973 in Bedford, New Hampshire. He is well-known for being the head writer for Saturday Night Live and anchoring its weekly news sketch called Weekend Update.

Sarah Silverman- Sarah Silverman was born Sarah Kate Silverman on 12-01-1970 in Bedford, New Hampshire. She is a comedienne, writer, actress, singer and musician. Her comedy sketches address social taboos, racism, sexism and religion.

Ronnie James Dio- Ronnie James Dio was born Ronald James Padavona on 07-10-1942 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He is the lead singer of the heavy metal group Dio.

Mandy Moore- Amanda Leigh Moore was born 04-10-1984 in Nashua, New Hampshire. She is a singer-songwriter, actress and fashion designer. She has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.

There are many other famous people from New Hampshire but this is just a sampling. Other famous New Hampshire natives include Pamela Smart, Daniel Webster, Josh Meyers and Tom Rush.
