Having living in Australia for almost twenty years, and having travelled to various parts of the world, I have come to the conclusion that the top five places to visit in the place also known as "Down Under" because of its location in the world, are Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, Uluru, and the Great Barrier Reef.
Melbourne, the capital of the state of Victoria was once voted as one of the most livable city in the world. The city is surrounded by both inner and outer suburbs and is connected to the suburbs via a network of train and tram lines as well as bus routes. The more famous train stations include the Flinders Street, Southern Cross, and Melbourne Centre Stations. While in Melbourne, make sure you do not miss places like Southbank, Melbourne Exhibition Centre, the Exhibition Building, Docklands, Melbourne Museum, and the Federation Square. You can enjoy your shopping at Melbourne Centre or at shopping malls in the suburbs like Forest Hill Chase in Forest Hill, Westfield Doncaster in Doncaster and the Knox in Knox City. You can admire beautiful paintings at the arts center and enjoy watching concerts at the concert hall. You can experience Oriental culture, the city has a Chinatown at Little Bourke Street. You can also enjoy a cruise along the Yarra. You can enjoy sumptuous meals of various cultures in Melbourne. Melbourne is also the home of well-known universities like Melbourne University, RMIT, Deakins, LaTrobe, and Monash.
Sydney, the capital of New South Wales and the largest in Australia is the place where the famous harbour bridge and the world renown opera house are situated. The city hosted the 2000 Olympics. You can spend some precious moments on the bridge looking at the boats and some tall ships sailing. You may also want to sail in one of them. The opera house is indeed a very unique piece of architecture. The University of Sydney is Australia's oldest university. Sydney connected to its surrounding suburbs by railway lines and roads and ferry networks. Like Melbourne, Sydney has a Chinatown where you can experience the Oriental culture. During the night, you can enjoy the brighten-up city.
Gold Coast is famous for its beautiful beaches which include Surfers Paradise, Main Beach, and Broadbeach which are popular among surfers. It is located in the northeastern state of Queensland. Another attraction in Gold Coast is Dreamworld where you enjoy various kinds of exciting rides; entertainments including an Imax Theatre and Wiggles World; and
