Political commentary: America's shifting political mood

Can there be any question that America’s political mood is undergoing a mammoth shift with the fact that the senate seat held by Ted Kennedy could be held by a Republican.  The fact that it is even a question is confirmation of the size of that shifting mood.  Barack Obama’s support is collapsing.  Health care legislation is now opposed by about sixty percent of Americans but the Obama and the Democrats are ignoring the polls and damning the political torpedoes headed their way.

The shift is so pronounced the predictions are that 2010 election could see Republicans take control from the Democrats possibly in both houses of Congress.  All of this has happened in only one year of the Obama administration.  If the predictions are accurate it will be the largest the most significant one-year change of a new administration in the history of America. That is not just a shifting mood; it is a sea change in American politics.

America’s mammoth obligations of domestic entitlement programs have forced informed Americans to confront a new reality along with two other critical issues that are awakening a profound concern.
