From behind these bars the world slowly passes me by.
There's an infinite amount of time to think and ponder on all the wrong I've done.
And I do think. I think a lot but I mostly pray and I always cry.
I cry for all the time I've lost and for the many things I've left unsaid.
It breaks my heart to know of the pain I've caused. The memory replays over and over in my head.
From behind these bars time seems to stand still.
I've learned the hard way that surviving these bars takes so more than just the will.
From behind these bars, on many days and many nights, all of my hope is gone.
And in the mist of the largest of crowds I feel nothing but alone.
Did you know that my God never sleeps? He's heard my heart felt plea.
I vowed to him that if given another chance, I'd be a better me.
From behind these bars I dream big dreams.
I dream of places not traveled and things not yet seen.
I believe that one of these days not so very far away,
From behind these bars the world will hear me say
"You can't hold me anymore. My God said to step aside."
I've paid my debt to society. I've earned the right to be free so I'm headed home.
This has been a hell of a ride.
