How to clean a carpet

Cleaning a carpet is a difficult task, especially deep cleaning and even more especially if your carpet is white or cream colored. First, let's go over the more tricky task of deep cleaning your carpet, which really should be done about every 4 months to about half a year. Your carpet is full of things you don't even want to know about even when it looks spotless. Trust me, it'll look and feel more amazing after deep cleaning.

Go out and buy or even rent a steamer machine, also known as a wet cleaner machine. Be sure to buy the cleaning products necessary for the machine. If you rented one out, it should come with the cleaners already, so go ahead and skip that step. First vacuum your floor thoroughly like you usually do. Vacuuming believe or not only gets the first three layers of your carpet, but this step is needed to fluff it up a bit before you start to deep clean.

Spray the areas where you see darkened spots with the cleaner from your steamer. Rub it in good into the soiled area and let it sit for a few minutes. If the carpet area is really unclean, increase the amount of prespray used and use little of the carpet shampoo. Now its time to put your machine to use. Fill it with hot water through the hose and mix in the carpet shampoo.

While using your wet clean machine, maximize the amount of water you squirt down on your carpet while mixing just the right amount of the cleaner. To make sure you're cleaning it just right, feel the wet area with your hand, if its damp and somewhat fluffy, then keep going over all other soiled areas. Once you're finished just wait overnight before you can test out your carpet again, don't forget to turn on a fan if you want it to dry quicker.

Don't be disappointed if you notice your carpet not as clean as you thought it'd turn out. If your carpet was really soiled, it will take more than once to deep clean it. One more time would probably do the trick and take out most of your stains. Now to keep up with how good your carpet looks, just remember to vacuum as needed, which would probably be once or twice a week, and steam clean every half year. If you're really concerned you can also sprinkle on carpet powder every month and use the vacuum on it, it can help with smaller stains and hard to reach areas.
