What do women really want in a man

by Vicki Phipps

What women really want in a man is not a question only asked by men. Women ask that question too, so we are all confused. That's why Sheryl Crow wrote and sang, "You're my favorite mistake." In fact, if you want to know what a woman wants in a man, just listen to Sheryl Crow. She knows. Than again, another female vocalist asked, "Where have all the Cowboys gone?" It's as if we claim to want John Wayne, who's strong. The problem with John Wayne is the fact that the actual John Wayne was putting on an act. The guy we wanted on that big movie screen was not an actual human being, so it seems we want a fantasy.

Besides, if a real guy scooped us up in his big strong arms during a fight, threw us on the bed and made passionate love to us all night, we'd accuse him of abuse and all the strong, silent types would be in prison soon. It's a huge issue.

We'll say we want a guy who's honest, kind and morally upright. We claim that he needs to be sensitive to more than a few female needs, but then when a guy behaves that way, we'll accuse him of being gay. Then again, if we claim to want a guy who fights for what he thinks is right, soon we'll accuse him of being a control freak and a know it all type of guy who wants to control our lives. When it comes to Mr. Right, we get bored and don't want him anymore, so what are we looking for?

QUESTION RESOLVED ONCE AND FOR ALL:

The problem with answering the question addressed in this title is the fact that men tend to use their common sense when it comes to women, but if romantic love and/or lust had anything to do with common sense, we'd no longer be confused. We'd be able to tell you exactly what we want, but the fact remains that women tend to lose all common sense when it comes to men and loving them. That's why Sherly Crow also sang the following wise advice to help a guy understand what women want in men. "I make the rules up as I go, so just try and love me if you can." After that, she asks, "Are you strong enough to be my man?"

I suppose only Sherly Crow knows, so she suggests that a guy should lie if need be. We promise to believe, but just please don't leave. Don't give up. Don't walk away just because we behave as if we are insane. Sometimes we'll be throwing punches in the air and we'll act like we don't care, but men should always be aware that it's wise for a guy to just hang in there. No matter who is wrong or right, at any given time, a woman just might change her mind.

In other words, we want you to be the man we need, depending on our mood, which can and often does change at any given moment of the day. Just try to read our minds. Be kind when we are sweet, but don't put up with the fact that we sometimes act like brats. When we pout or shout, don't complain or walk away. Just take it like a man and be brave. Be as patient as a saint, and let us rant and rave, but keep in mind that it helps to keep a remorseful look on your face. Then, when the rage fades away, give us a hug and tell us we are loved. Just accept the fact that it's not easy to be a woman. We are dealing with some huge issues today, created by men. by the way. Besides, if you were a woman, you'd be confused as to what you want too. It's true.

We want you to be strong but gentle too. We don't want you to put up with us being brats, but in fact, we want you to love us in spite of the fact that we act like brats. We want to cuddle up with you, but we don't want you to want sex every time we do cuddle up to you. We want you to act like a man, but to be sensitive to a woman's needs too. That's all we ask of you.

It could be that if we were simply more accepting and less rejecting of the fact that men are from Mars and women are from Venus, we'd all be less confused about this issue. When it comes to men who try to understand what a woman wants in them, remember this: What you resist will persist. Still, , I'd like to leave you with yet another Sheryl Crow tip, and If women use this tip, we'll at least be less confused. The issue will be resolved once and for all when we see the reality that it's not about having what you want, but wanting what you've got.
