Prayer is a mental, spiritual and emotional form of communication with others, and most important, with God and other Good Spirits. It is through prayer and meditation that we may reach the most peaceful moments in our day. It is also through them that we will find answers that reside deep in our soul.

I know many people who won't pray because they think their words are not so sophisticated to talk to God. How silly they are. As if God doesn't already know our needs! Prayer is not about what we say, not about beautiful words. It's about how you feel. Prayer will bring to our life peace. The peace we need to deal with a stressful world.

The book The Gospel Explained by the Spiritist Doctrine by Allan Kardec, presents a collection of Spiritist Prayers that will fit any need you may have in your soul. It has prayers to be said before a meeting, for one's guardian angel or protecting spirit, and even to ask for strength to resist a temptation. There is a prayer also to be said for our enemies and ill wishers.

Here is an example of the prayers from the book. This is only part of the prayer. You can find the entire prayer on page 348 of the book mentioned above.

Dear God, I forgive [name] for the evil he/she's done and may still want to do to me, just as I ask You to forgive me. I also pray that he may forgive any offenses I may have committed against him. If he has come into my life as a test, may Your Will be done. But keep me safe, dear God, from the temptation of slandering him. Don't let me feel a tinge of satisfaction for any misfortune that might happen to him/her, or pain for the good that may happen to him/her. Such feelings would only be blemish my soul with thoughts that aren't worthy of a Christian.

There is always Our Father and innumerous prayers of Jewish and Islamic traditions. And as I said before, the words are not the most important part of a prayer, but how you feel about God, and about others. God will listen to the sincerity of your heart, not to the beauty of your words.

I have faced several issues in my life for the past four years. People frequently ask how I manage standing still. I answer their question with one single word: Prayers.
