Mystery of the Bermuda Triangle

One of the greatest mysteries of present day that has proved baffling to many scholarly people is that of the Bermuda Triangle. Claimed to be a fabrication and a result of over-exaggeration of neurotics who claim to be witnesses of paranormal activities, we are no closer to the truth than when we first began investigating the Bermuda Triangle.

The exact area of the Bermuda Triangle varies by researchers. Miami, San Juan and Puerto Rico are taken as the three points of the Triangle, and it covers the Straits of Florida, Bahamas, Caribbean islands, Atlantic east to the Azores maybe and the Gulf of Mexico.

One of the anomalies of the Triangle is that the compasses used in this area point to the true North instead of the magnetic north pole.

The first known incidence of the Triangle was in October 1492, when Christopher Columbus recorded in his log book that he and his men saw strange dancing lights or flames in the sky when passing through the area over the Atlantic.

In 1944, during World War II, seven bombers left the US en route to Italy. They rested in Bermuda for a short while and continued on their journey. An hour later, one of the planes got out of control and started flipping and bouncing. The planes abruptly returned to Bermuda, unfortunately five out of the remaining six planes disappeared, but the sixth plane returned intact.

In December 1945, Flight 19 which consisted of five TBM Avenger bombers disappeared off the coast of east Florida. There is much controversy about the exact cause of the disappearance.

In 1966, Captain Henry of 'Good News' ship was sailing over the Atlantic when the compass went out of control and a low fog set in. The electricity was on and the generators were working but astonishingly there was no power on board. Luckily, the ship returned safely to harbor.

In 1967, passengers in a cruise ship Queen Elizabeth I, claimed they witnessed a plane disappear into thin air.

Many such disappearances are the reason behind the search for the truth behind the Triangle. Many who survived are said to have lost their minds. Strangely, the wreckage of the ships and planes said to have disappeared remain lost.

The methane gas hydrate theory presented to the world by Richard Mclver seems highly unlikely, unless we all believe in mass coincidences.

The more dreary explanations include storms, air currents, ocean currents and of course human error.

The most interesting of the theories presented to explain these strange happenings is that of the Lost City of Atlantis. The reason being the discovery of a set of underwater steps, right off the coast of Bimini.

Some suggest the presence of a time warp or a black hole, thereby transporting the fated ships and planes into another time or place.

Most would brush aside these theories as hogwash and stick to the belief that there is nothing wrong with that part of the world. It is here that we must realize that years ago no one could have even imagined an airplane or a cell phone.

Things happen. Impossible things happen.
