There are some who strive to be the next Bobby Fisher. Seeing the concentration required, it is no wonder chess is one of the oldest games offering players a challenge. Not only does a good challenge like the game of chess stimulate the brain, it also offers lessons in problem solving, risk-taking, different thought processes, creativity, patience, persistence, and healthy work habits.
To live wisely, you must be willing to look at all aspects of life. Looking a problem straight in the eye and finding a solution. Thinking through your steps carefully and learning from your mistakes. Encompassing all the tricks of the trade from a game of chess, you can achieve wisdom.
Studying Skills
Studying is the key to success. There are many moves in the game of chess. You need to learn the moves that fit your style. Different ways to open the game and different endgame moves are strategies that take practice. Living a wiser lifestyle also requires studying. You need to educate yourself to better understand situations. Take the time to learn. You want to become a master of your skills. Whether you are on the chess board or walking down the street, you want to be well educated on the specific skills needed to succeed.
Once you have learned and mastered one skill, you can move on to another. Maybe there are two opening styles that you would like to master in the game of chess. Practice and take the time to learn one. When you feel proficient in that move, it is time to learn your next move. The same is true in life. To truly live wisely, never stop learning. Changes happen all the time and new discoveries are made. If you stop learning, you may discover that you are missing out on a lot of things.
Creating a Plan
Always have a plan. Now to live a wiser life, this is excellent advice. The plan may not have all the steps figured out. It may not be that transparent to you yet. Sometimes, the plan is a rough sketch of your goal. You will have to figure out how to reach that goal as you go along. The same is true in the game of chess. You need to have an ultimate plan of attack. However, you are not going to be able to plan out each individual step. This is especially true during tournaments when time is of the essence.
